I live in a beautiful town near Gettysburg, Pennsylvania surrounded by a remarkably picturesque landscape. The breathtaking scenery provides me with many magnificent backdrops for my artistry.
I am in a season of my life where I often find myself beset by physical limitations resulting in my taking life more slowly. As I move at a slower pace, I become more aware of the simple beauty found in the small and often overlooked treasures that surround us daily. As I learn to live in the moment and appreciate these observations the inspiration for my artwork subsequently arises.
The approach that I use to create my artwork is unique. I start by taking a photograph, most often of something found in nature. I then rearrange aspects of the image, making use of the colors, shapes and textures to comprise the completed design. The process reminds me of an artist working with paint, my palette being composed of the colors found in the original photograph. At times I feel like a sculptor working with clay searching to find what is inside waiting to be revealed.
My artwork is a reminder of the gift of beauty all around you every day. Take time to see and appreciate those gifts to you. Carry them with you, and let them inspire you. Every day we have is a gift from God, and He will speak to you, He is whispering, can you hear Him?
